At Scalingo, we understand that your time is valuable. That’s why simplicity and efficiency are at the core of our new dashboard, allowing you to focus on what you do best: building exceptional applications. Managing infrastructure - especially databases - should be as seamless as possible, so our motto, “Focus on your code. Innovate faster.” continues to be your greatest ally for success.

While our previous interface got the job done, it no longer aligned with our high standards or our vision for the developer experience we want to deliver. It was sometimes seen as unintuitive and didn’t fully support our mission to simplify complex tasks.

From the outset of this project, we adopted a user-centric approach. We conducted interviews to understand your goals, workflows and the frustrations you encountered. These conversations were invaluable to help guide our redesign and ensure each improvement truly met your needs.

Three major challenges

From our user research, we identified three key challenges you faced in managing your databases on our platform.

• A fragmented user interface: while the overall experience for managing applications was well rated, our database management UI lacked consistency with the rest of the platform.
• Difficulty in assessing database status: Many of you found it complicated to quickly access and interpret critical information about the health of your databases.
• Lack of clarity in backup management: the backup and restoration processes were not seen to be as transparent or reassuring as they should have for such a critical feature.

A seamless experience

We’ve enhanced and unified the interface, making database management consistent with the rest of the platform. The familiar navigation principles you know and love from the rest of the platform are now also applied to your database operations.

Many of you told us you want a solution that is clear, simple, and free from technical jargon. Your priority is to create innovative solutions without having to worry about infrastructure details.

To meet this need, we focused our development on delivering an intuitive, accessible interface that guides you efficiently without unnecessary complexity.

Key information at a glance

At the heart of this new experience is a quick overview of your database’s configuration and status. You can now easily assess the health and compliance of your database with key metrics and be notified of any necessary upgrades or maintenance.

Our in-house advisor, Scalingo Advisor - think of it as our helpful version of Clippy - is there to provide additional insights and guide you through your database management.

Configuration details are now organized in a dedicated settings page, clearly separating operational monitoring from technical settings management.

Clearer backups and transparent restorations

You should never have to question your data security. We’ve redesigned the backup management interface to be as straightforward as possible, so you can act with confidence.

Now, every step of the backup and restoration process is presented in a clear, understandable way - no confusing jargon, just actionable information.
